New Home Building Construction Manager (Bryan/College Station Area)

Job opening for experienced Construction Manager for new homebuilder in the Bryan/College Station Area. Candidate must be able to thrive in a fast paced environment and adapt to change.

Job Description:
• Oversee the construction of multiple homes from start to finish
• Ensure homes are built in the allotted time frame
• Locate new trades and vendors, when necessary
• Build and maintain fair professional relationships with trades and vendors
• Keep track of all costs and expenditures to remain within budget
• Build excellent rapports with home buyers and new home owners
• Adhere to and manage jobsite Safety
• Maintain community and jobsite cleanliness


Job Requirements:
• Familiar with operating basic computer systems and programs (i.e. Windows, Internet Search Engines, Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• Possess efficient verbal and written communication skills
• Well organized and detail oriented
• Motivated self-starter, capable of taking charge and managing various individuals with diverse skill sets
• OSHA certification for residential construction safety (will be required and training will be supplemented by company if not already completed prior to hire and provided)
• First Aid and CPR certification (also required with training supplemented by company if not already completed prior to hire, provided and not yet expired)

Accounting Assistant

JOB SUMMARY: Perform cash receipts data entry and general accounting entries accurately. You will be responsible in performing clerical, administrative, and accounting assignments for the assigned area of responsibility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform general ledger duties to assist with monthly activity and closings.
  • Monitor bank activity for wire payments, internal transfers between accounts, and chargebacks.
  • Record cash receipts into various entities within the accounting system.
  • Prepare general ledger journal entries.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely month-end close tasks as assigned.
  • Reviews financial data for accuracy; identifies problems and supports day-to-day operations.
  • Corporate credit card management - review and track receipts, accounting for transactions appropriately and timely.
  • Reconcile accounts as assigned
  • Manage installation and maintenance of the internet line at various locations
  • Able to assist accounts payable as needed
  • Provide additional support to the accounting team as needed.
  • Filing as assigned
  • Backup warranty department as needed
  • Assists with related special projects as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Controller.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience in accounting field
  • 2-4 years of previous homebuilder/Construction AP or accounting experience
  • Knowledge of general accounting. Strong computer skills, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint
  • Lloyds Homebuilder Package or Brix knowledge is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and strong organizational skills

Accountant

JOB SUMMARY: Performs regular accounting functions including reviewing accrual methods and assumptions; financial reports and ad hoc reports; performs analysis and makes recommendations regarding accounting policy and practices to ensure consistency with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Cash management:

  • As checks are received for various subsidiary businesses, verify their accuracy, enter them into the appropriate system, and prepare cash receipt entries to record receipt;
  • Prepare daily cash entries based on daily bank statements and intercompany transactions.
  • Enter cleared checks daily, reconcile bank statements monthly

Accounting Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring all journal entries have been prepared and posted that you are responsible for
  • Update budgets on sales for closing cost to ensure accurate margin projections
  • Verify accuracy of closings and post sales vouchers as they occur
  • Maintain Fixed Assets on spreadsheet/system
  • Preparing reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts
  • Work with operational divisions to ensure all transactions have been properly reflected in the financial statements
  • Setup and maintain job master; various filing as assigned; we may add additional duties as needed

Accounts Payable processing:

  • Review invoices for accuracy and code to hand off to AP for processing
  • Enter manual and voided checks.

Financial analysis:

  • Prepare variance analyses on expenses and communicate reasons for the variances to management.
  • Prepare House Profit Analyses and review gross profit margins for each sales contract
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis as requested by management.

Education/Certifications/Licenses/Experience:

  • BS in Accounting preferred or equivalent work experience and CPA certificate a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and experience in homebuilding industry a plus
  • 2-4 years working for a public accounting firm OR 3-5 years working in Finance/Accounting

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong financial and accounting skills, as well as analytical skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint
  • Lloyds Homebuilder Package or Brix knowledge is a plus.

Performs general reproduction and clerical duties including copying, scanning, telephone, record keeping, spreadsheets, data entry and maintaining office files.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibility to scan all documents to create electronic filing system.
  • Key operator for office reproduction activities using copiers, plotters, and printers including adding toner, calling in service as needed, and helping with issues.
  • Sorts and files documents in filing system.
  • Performs light typing and data entry as requested.
  • Maintaining mail machine including postage downloads and postage scale.
