Katy Half Marathon Right Around the Corner

It’s time to get moving—the Katy Half Marathon is right around the corner!

The annual marathon will be taking place Saturday, February 7th, beginning and ending at the Katy Mills shopping mall.

Approximately 30 minutes outside Houston, the Katy marathon consists of a flat and fast course, although the first few miles feature very gently rolling hills. The event consists of a half-marathon relay, a 5k race, and a half-mile “Kids K” race.

Runners will start the half marathon near the Katy Mills parking lot. After approximately 4 miles, the course begins a long, gradual downhill slope for the next five miles. This stretch then heads into local residential neighborhoods. The last three miles of the race unfold along a very gradual uphill before leading back to the shopping mall, where runners will cross the finish line back where they started.

There will be hydration stations along the course stocked with water and Gatorade. Runners are expected to keep a pace of 15 minutes per mile or faster, as the half marathon has a course time limit of about 3 hours and 16 minutes.

Participants will be treated to live music, hot chocolate, delicious food from sponsors such as Pollo Tropical (gourmet food trucks will also be available), and beer from No Label Brewing Co..

In addition, runners will receive complimentary race photos, hats or visors, finisher’s medals, finisher’s shirts, and finisher’s mugs or pint glasses.

Awards will be announced by age group at the end of the race.

Pleasant temperatures are to be expected on the day of the race, February 7th—the average low is 43ºF and the average high is 64ºF.

The half marathon begins at 6:30 AM and the “Kids K” begins at 9:30 AM. To reserve your spot in the Katy Half Marathon, Relay or 5K race, register here.
